"Effective Teaching and Assessment in Higher Education: Research Assistant Trainer Training Program," organized by the Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University (NEVÜ) Teaching and Learning Coordination Office, was held with intensive participation at the Central Library on June 15–16, 2026.

Designed for research assistants at the doctoral thesis stage, the program aimed to enhance effective teaching practices and assessment skills in higher education.

On the first day of the two-day program, current approaches and practices in teaching processes were addressed by academics with expertise in the field. In the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergin Erginer delivered a presentation titled "Teaching in the Classroom in Terms of Thinking Skills," which addressed instructional practices that support students' higher-order thinking skills. This was followed by a session conducted by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Öztürk titled "Constructivist Learning in Higher Education," which discussed the reflections of the constructivist learning approach within the context of higher education.

Later in the day, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aysun Erginer's session on "Classroom Management" addressed the importance of classroom management in creating effective learning environments. In the presentation delivered by Lecturer Dr. Arzu Saldıray, titled "Dynamic and Interactive Learning Environments: A Necessity for Inclusive Education," emphasis was placed on practices that increase student engagement and support inclusive learning experiences. In the afternoon sessions, Prof. Dr. Funda Nalbantoğlu Yılmaz addressed the topic of "Valid and Reliable Measurement," underscoring the importance of scientific principles in measurement and assessment processes. In the program's final session, Rector Prof. Dr. Semih Aktekin delivered a presentation titled "Higher Education from Tradition to the Future: Our Roles and Responsibilities," in which the evolving structure of higher education and the roles undertaken by academics in this process were evaluated.

Throughout the program, participants had the opportunity not only to acquire theoretical knowledge on topics such as teaching methods, classroom management, inclusive education, measurement and assessment, and academic responsibilities in higher education, but also to share practice-oriented examples and experiences. The training process, which brought together research assistants from various academic disciplines, also fostered interdisciplinary interaction and professional exchange. Following the examination held on the second day of the program, a certificate ceremony took place with the participation of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mutluhan Akın, during which participants were presented with certificates of achievement. The research assistants who successfully completed the training process shared their feedback on the program.

In its evaluation, the NEVÜ Teaching and Learning Coordination Office stated that professional development activities aimed at improving instructional quality at the university would continue in the coming period, and that similar training programs supporting the teaching skills of research assistants and faculty members would be continued in line with the feedback received. It was emphasized that such initiatives, which contribute to strengthening a culture of quality in teaching and learning processes, hold significant importance for the university's institutional development goals.
